THE STYLE BARN

BLOG

One of my favorite things about summer is lounging by the pool, with a cocktail in hand, and showing off my swimsuit(s), that I gladly purchased during the winter months. You can never have too many swimsuits. I believe that it’s perfectly fine to show off your swimsuit without getting in the water. I also think that your “pool look” is just as important as any other ensemble. Pair a sarong with a one-piece, match a beaded cap to your monokini, and adorn your favorite bikini with body chains. Whatever you wear, make it fashionable.

Lately, I’ve been exploring the fashion and etiquette of women from the past (50s, 60s, 70s, and even the 90s). It’s no surprise that I repeatedly revisit certain films: Carmen Jones, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Mary Tyler Moore, and more. The simplicity of those eras of style seems to stick with me as I venture further into womanhood.

A secret board inspired this post I created on Pinterest. I’ve always wanted to embrace gloves outside of wearing them for warmth. There’s something mysterious yet elegant about a woman who adds a tulle glove to complete her ensemble. I’ve made it a mission to take gloves beyond this shoot and add them to my next LBD look.

Ladies, are you with me?
